Prospective Student Interviews

The Clinical faculty typically conducts interviews with invited applicants in late January or February. We typically hold two interview dates, which are announced in December or January. Our schedule of activities tentatively runs from 9:00 to 5:00 and the schedule will be emailed to invited applicants. If selected to interview, we will contact you via email in January.

The interview dates for 2017 are Friday, Feb. 3 and Saturday, Feb. 4.

All of the faculty introductions and interviews of applicants will occur at George Mason University's Fairfax campus. Here are general directions to the campus at 4400 University Drive in Fairfax, Virginia. You can also type the address into maps.google.com to get a map and directions from your location.

The introductions, interviews, and lunch will occur in David King Hall which houses the Department of Psychology. The Mason Pond Parking Deck for visitor parking is located near the pond and the Center for the Arts and the charge for a day of parking is $15. There is also visitor parking in the Rappahannock River Deck and the Sandy Creek Parking Deck. Then walk to David King Hall which is in the center of campus. David King Hall has a large TV antenna on top of the building. The faculty offices are on the ground floor with 2000 numbers. The basement offices have 1000 numbers.

Please join us for a light breakfast in David King 2013 available at 8:30am.  The event officially begins at 9:00am.  The Director of the Clinical Program will provide an overview and answer questions, followed by faculty introductions and research descriptions.  Next are the interviews. You will interview with at least two faculty members individually at some point during the remainder of the day, with plenty of time to stroll around our campus in the meantime.  In addition, you will have several opportunities to meet with current graduate students.  Lunch with the graduate students will be held in DK 2013 from 12:30 to 1:30. On the evening of Friday, Feb. 3, our graduate students will be hosting an optional tour of our training clinic followed by a social hour (or two) that interviewees may wish to attend — this is for applicants interviewing on either Friday or Saturday.  More information, including specifics, will be sent out to applicants selected for interviews.

Reagan National Airport has a Metro station stop on the Blue Line. A third airport, Baltimore-Washington International Airport (code is BWI) is 55 miles northeast of GMU and takes approximately 75 minutes (or more in rush hour traffic) to reach the campus.

You can get to George Mason University by riding a Cue bus from the Vienna Metro station (the westernmost stop on the Orange Line). The Cue buses are green or gold and white with four routes between GMU and the Vienna Metro station (Green 1 and 2 and Gold 1 and 2). The Gold 1 (20 minutes) Cue bus has a shorter trip to the GMU campus from the Vienna Metro station than the Green 2 (30 minutes), Green 1 (35 minutes), or Gold 2 (35 minutes) Cue buses.
