Clinical Psychology: Trauma-Focused Interventions, Youth and Families, Implementation Science, Perinatal Psychology
Abby is a fourth-year student in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program working with Dr. Christy Esposito-Smythers in the Center for Evidence-Based Behavioral Health. Prior to beginning her training at GMU, Abby worked for three years as a Behavioral Health Study Coordinator in the Pediatric Oncology Branch at the National Cancer Institute.
Abby's research interests focus on the implementation of culturally-responsive, trauma-focused interventions for youth and families, particularly those that build upon family strengths. Her current research is focused on understanding the experiences of Latina Spanish-speakers with childbirth-related PTSD.
Abby is currently on externship at Children's National Hospital in the Trauma/Burn Surgery Program and the Mood and Trauma Disorders Program.
In her free time, she enjoys running, practicing yoga, and reading a good book in one of DC's beautiful parks.
